Snow-covered trail through a dense forest, where winter wellness rejuvenation awaits at the sunlit end of the path, with tall trees lining both sides.

Winter: A Time of Rejuvenation and Potential

Cold and Dark have their place in life

Often people say they feel tired in the winter. It gets dark earlier and is colder and they don’t want to do much. Cuddling under a blanket with the fireplace blazing seems like the best way to handle this season.

Winter is a time of rest and rejuvenation. Look at nature and this becomes apparent. Trees have lost their leaves, birds flew south, and other animals are spending more time in their nests and dens. This is how winter should be.

Why do winter temperatures and darkness push us toward more rest? First, because we all need to recuperate from the hectic life of summer. Most people are much more active in summer and their bodies need time to recover. Second, this is the time to gather your potential. Just like the acorn has the potential to become an oak tree, we also have the potential to do great things in our lives. However, that potential needs to be nourished and not pushed too fast. Plants become dormant so that they can flourish when the season shifts to spring. So too, human beings need a time of gathering their potential so it can explode into decisive action when spring arrives.

Take this time to reflect and nurture your potential. Carrying out plans that have been biding their time until spring first requires them to have had the reflection and quiet winter provides. Take this time to go inward, breathe deeply, reflect on your life and your future plans. Then when spring comes, you’ll be ready to take action.
