Teresa Thompson

Teresa Thompson is a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbal practitioner with a Masters of Oriental Medicine from Maryland University of Integrative Health, formerly Tai Sophia Institute. In addition to acupuncture and Chinese herbs she offers her patients wellness coaching, somatic experiencing, cultivation practices, and deep listening.

For 24 years Teresa worked with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which primarily holds a Western Medical paradigm offering external interventions to the challenges of life. Today Teresa integrates Western Medical concepts into the model of Oriental Medicine. This includes an understanding that wellness encompasses all levels of our being. Body, Mind, and Soul must be addressed to potentiate true wellness. Lack of ease on any level can lead to pain and disease. Paying attention to our body and recognizing that physical symptoms have connections to other layers of our experience is a key. Engaging this key begins with noticing whatever shows up with a surety that the body is wise and will teach us if we listen. Our attention and intention invite activation of internal healing processes. Through her personal practices including prayer, meditation, qigong, and yoga Teresa learned to listen to the body and to inner guidance. That inner guidance is present in each of us.

Teresa engages her patients in a process of discovering what wellness is for their current life situation. She invites needed change through needles and words. Encouraging each person to see beyond perceived limitations removes obstacles to transformation and restores flow to life.

Would you benefit from working with someone who will hold space for you to learn to listen to your own inner voice, give attention to what is asking to be heard, and ask the questions you need to ask yourself to be fully alive and well? Call or text Teresa today to schedule a time to see if this work is your next step.
